"OMNIBUS"
History of this name.
In France in 1823 a fellow named Stanislas Baudry, in a suburb of Nantes began running vehicles to a stand in the Place du Commerce. This stand was at a shop belonging to another man...named M. Omnes, who adopted the slogan Omnes omnibus. "Omnes for all!"

The word "Omnibus" means "providing for many things at once," and was already in use in the French language.
His surname is very close to this word "omnibus" already being used. He made a play on words with his surname and a word describing multi-tasking.
So, really "Omnibus" back then meant "multi-tasking".
So Mr. Omnes recognised this and started a catch phrase... but his name didn't stick... just "Omnibus", an existing word now had a "noun" meaning. Soon people dropped the "omni" and just referred to the vehicle as "bus".
